Productivity can be used to measure not only your company’s success but also your own individual success. Defined as how much you can produce in a given time, productivity is a variable factor which can be increased or decreased. No one else can improve your productivity but by making a few personal changes you can increase your productivity to become more successful.
Attitude is so important in your work life and your home life. If you are lacking motivation at work which is causing you to have low productivity then it may be time to take a step back and review your attitude towards your job. If you cannot find a way to improve your attitude towards your work then it may be time to change your job. We spend most of our lives working so you might as well do something that you enjoy.
The first step would be to define what productivity means to you and your job. Choose goals that define you and what you want out of your own life. Seek your own path instead of following someone else’s and never measure your success by someone else’s standards. Follow your own dream and work towards your end goal. By making your goals in your career personal you’ll hold yourself more responsible and will therefore become more productive.
Instead of focusing on managing your time, try focussing on managing your actions and your energy. Set clear priorities but try not to have too many. Not everything on your to do list can be a priority. Review your to do list every day and go over the priorities again to see if they are still a priority. That way you’ll know the most important task to work on that day. You’ll also want to be specific when creating your to do list. Along with the priority level you’ll want to include thinks like deadlines, and how long you think it will take to complete the task.

When working on tasks, complete one full task before moving on to the next one. When you have a lot of unfinished jobs on the go the pressure of completing them all builds up and can cause a huge amount of stress. Stick to your list and number them by priority. Start at the top of the list and finish that task before moving on to the next one. Your productivity will increase because it will take you less time to complete each task when it is the only one you’re working on.
Sometimes what is perceived as a lack of time is really due to unsharpened skills. If you find that certain tasks take you longer than others, review those tasks and find out why they take longer than others. If it’s to do with reading, writing, typing, etc... then work on refining those skills. Take a typing class to improve your speed or see a literacy specialist to find out ways to improve reading or studying skills. It’s also important to make sure you’re up to date with new information and technology in your field. You may learn shortcuts to completing tasks but will also have a sharper mind when working or coming up with ideas.
The best way to improve your productivity is first to have faith and believe in yourself and do something you enjoy and second to develop a plan through a thorough to do list. A positive mental attitude goes a long way in life and following the laws of attraction if you focus on the positives, more positives will come to you. Work hard on what you enjoy and you’ll improve your productivity and become more successful.
